Backpack Trip: Oil Creek State Park (PA)
Date: Nov ??, 2010
Depart: 6pm Friday from ACDC parking lot.
Return: Sunday to ACDC parking lot.
Cost: $4.00 per person (subject to change)
Activity: 15 miles. We will complete a portion of the 36 mile Gerard hiking trail. We will stay in shelters each night & use the fireplaces for heat & dry out clothing, gear, etc.
Water: Treatable water is available near the shelters and along the trail.
Meals: Bring/cook your own backpacking meals. (No more than 1-2lbs./day)
Bear Bagging: We will hang all food & "smellables" properly at night. Each person will need gear for hanging a bear bag. See the Bear Bagging page.
Shelter: Camping is only permitted in the Wolfkiel Run & Cow Run shelter areas. Each adirondak-style shelter will hold 4 people and is equipped with a fireplace.
Note: We will need to carry (2) 9x12 tarps + hanging supplies for each shelter.
Weather: Keep an eye on the weather forecast & adjust your gear accordingly.
