Backpack Trip: Raccoon Creek State Park
This will be an introductory trip. All Troop 69 Scouts, who may have an interest in Backpacking Merit Badge are welcome to attend. Please read through the "Gear, Food & Safety" sections to the left to make sure you are prepared for the trip.
Date: August 12-14, 2011
Depart: Friday at 5:00 PM from ACDC parking lot.
Return: Sunday approx 2:00 PM at ACDC parking lot. Will pass around cell phones when we are 1 hr. away.
Fee: $5.00 per person (pay directly to Randy Smith)
Other Costs: Each person needs to carry enough money to pay their expenses as they go. We may be stopping for a quick meal on Sunday afternoon.
Activity:
Fri evening: Drive to RCSP. Hike approx 1.5 miles into Sioux shelter area.
Sat mid-day: Hike approx 3 miles to Pioneer shelter area.
Sat afternoon: Backpacking skills activities.
Sun morning: Hike approx 3 miles back to parking lot. Head home.
Meals: Bring/cook your own backpacking meals. If you have a lightweight backpacking stove, bring it. We need to have minimum 1 stove per 4 backpackers.
Shelter:
- Bring a personal lightweight backpacking tent or hammock.
- Sleep in the backpacking shelter.
