Empowering boys to be leaders is the core of Scouting. Scouts learn by doing, and what they do is lead their patrols and their troop. The boys themselves develop a troop program, then take responsibility for figuring out how they will achieve the goals. One of our most important challenges is to train boy leaders to run the troop by providing direction, coaching and support. The boys will make mistakes now and then and will rely upon the adult leaders to guide them. But only through real hands-on experience as leaders can boys learn to lead.”
- Scoutmaster's Handbook; chapter 3 The Boy-Led Troop
Summer Camp: Scouts who decide to attend after April 8, 2013 will lose the discounts and need to register and pay the full price ($260) directly to Buckeye Council.

Pipestone Wood - The program needs the kind of firelight that comes only from the clean, smokeless burning of dry, naturally barkless wood. Each Scout must consider it part of his requirements to gather one cubic foot of Pipestone wood for use in the Ceremonies. Wood should be straight, about 12" to 16" long, no thinner than your little finger and no thicker than your thumb. Start gathering your wood now.
Summer Camp Merit Badges and prerequisites
NOTE
Some MB Programs are already full! (Commmunications, Geocaching, Kayaking, Radio, Search & Rescue) Scouts that have not submitted merit badge schedules to Dennis M. need to do so ASAP.
"- Class size is strictly enforced for quality control purposes. Scouts can be added to a "standby list" for each badge after the Sunday leader's meeting."
"- Prerequisites are due on the first day of class. Unprepared scouts will lose their spot to the next on the standby list."
"- All prerequisites are listed in the Leader's Guide. Make sure scouts have prerequisites done before leaving for camp."
